ServicesStorm Damage Repair
Storm Damage Repair in Penney Farms, FL
After high wind or hail, we climb onto your roof, find what actually lifted, cracked or tore, and photograph it. Then you get a straight answer: a targeted fix if the roof can still hold, or a clear explanation of why the damage has spread too far for one.

What storm damage looks like up close
Most storm damage on a shingle roof is quiet. A gust gets under a tab, breaks the adhesive seal strip and folds the shingle back, leaving a crease across the mat. It drops back into place and looks fine from the yard, but it no longer holds, and the next storm can peel it off. Hail works the same way, bruising the mat and knocking loose the granules that protect the asphalt from sun.
Our job is to find those failures, record them and restore the roof's ability to shed water. On a roof with good life left, that usually means swapping out the damaged shingles, re-nailing lifted courses and resetting flashing or ridge cap. When creasing runs across whole slopes, or the decking has taken on water and gone soft, we explain why a patch would only set up the next leak and talk through roof replacement instead.
Tropical storms and summer thunderstorms test roofs around Penney Farms every year, so a check after a big blow is worth it even when nothing is dripping yet.
What the work includes
Free post-storm inspection
We walk every slope, check the attic for fresh staining or daylight around nails, and look at vents, flashing and gutters. The inspection costs you nothing.
Dated photos with notes
Each damaged area gets a photo and a short label: creased tab, hail bruise, cracked pipe boot, torn underlayment. You keep them for your records or a claim.
Working with your adjuster
We work directly with your insurance adjuster on storm damage claims and can meet them on the roof to point out what we found. The adjuster decides coverage. We explain the damage and the repair it calls for.
Covering open spots
When wind has torn away shingles or underlayment, we stretch a tarp over the opening and batten it down. That keeps rain from soaking the decking while the permanent fix is scheduled.
Permanent repairs
We replace creased or missing shingles, re-nail lifted courses, swap cracked pipe boots, reseal or rebuild step and wall flashing, and cut out soft decking where water got through. New pieces are matched to your existing profile and color as closely as current products allow.
Metal panels and gutters
On metal roofs we re-fasten loosened panels and install new fasteners where the rubber washers have torn. Gutters bent by limbs or pulled off their hangers can be handled through our gutters service.
Signs your roof took storm damage
Loose shingles on the ground
A single shingle lying in the grass leaves an opening in the roof, and the neighboring courses have probably lost their seal too.
Grit under the downspouts
Check the splash block below each downspout. Black, gritty granules washed out there after a storm mean hail or wind has scraped the shingle surface.
Lifted or creased tabs
From the ground, look for shingle edges that sit raised or show a straight line across them. That line is a crease, and a creased shingle won't reseal on its own.
A new ceiling stain
Water that shows up inside a day or two after a storm usually entered at flashing, a pipe boot or a missing shingle. The decking above has been wet longer than the stain suggests.
Dents in soft metal
Box vents, drip edge and gutters dent before shingles show damage. If the vents are dimpled, the shingles took the same hits.
How a storm repair runs
- 1
The phone call
Tell us when the storm hit and what you've noticed. We book a technician visit at a time that works for you.
- 2
Inspection and photos
The technician checks the roof and attic and photographs every damaged spot. You see the photos before anyone talks about price.
- 3
Findings and a recommendation
You get a line-item estimate and a straight answer on whether to repair, with the reasoning behind it. If you file a claim, we can meet your adjuster with the same photos.
- 4
Repair day
We cover landscaping below the work area, strip the damaged material, check the decking underneath and install the repair. Once the work is done, we roll a magnetic sweeper across the driveway and lawn to catch stray nails, then walk you through photos of the finished repair.
What moves the cost of a storm repair
Storm work is hard to price from the driveway, because wind and hail seldom leave damage in a single spot. Each repair gets its own line on the estimate, with the quantity and cost beside it, so nothing is lumped together. The free estimate carries no obligation, and financing is available.
- How far the damage spreads
- A few blown-off tabs on one slope is a short job. Creasing scattered across several slopes means more material, more labor and sometimes a different recommendation.
- Condition of the decking
- If water soaked into the plywood or OSB, those sheets have to be cut out and swapped for new ones. We can't see that until the shingles come off, so we note it as a possible line item up front.
- Roof type and matching
- Asphalt shingles, metal panels and their trim each price differently, and discontinued shingle lines can take more effort to match.
- Pitch and access
- Steep slopes need extra safety setup, and tight access around trees or fences adds time.
- Insurance and permits
- When a claim is approved, your policy and deductible shape what you pay. Larger repairs may also need a county permit, which we include in the estimate.
Storm damage questions
Something not covered here? (904) 872-5223
Should I call my insurance company before or after you inspect?
Many people have us inspect first, since the inspection is free. If the damage is minor and likely under your deductible, you may decide not to file. If it's significant, you'll go into the claim with photos already in hand.
Will repaired shingles match the rest of my roof?
We match profile and color as closely as available products allow. Shingles that have weathered for years will look a little different from new ones at first, and some older lines are discontinued. We'll tell you before work starts if a close match isn't possible.
What if insurance approves a replacement but you think a repair will do?
We'll tell you what we see on the roof and why. Coverage is between you and your insurer, and we don't act as the adjuster. Our recommendation is based on the condition of the roof, not on what a claim might pay.
Is there a deadline to report storm damage?
Your policy sets the deadline, and Florida has shortened claim timelines in recent years. Check your policy soon after a storm instead of waiting for a leak to appear.
Can I check the roof myself after a storm?
Please stay on the ground. A shingle that has lost its seal can slip under your weight, and wet granules make the surface slick. A pair of binoculars from the yard will show missing pieces and raised edges, and our technician will cover the close-up work.
Get the roof checked before the next storm
Damage that sits through another round of wind and rain tends to grow. A free post-storm inspection shows you what's there and whether a repair will hold.
